DESCRIPTION:Dr. Michael Pearson is a graduate from the JPhD program from NC A&T and UNCG. He also has an MSW and LCSWA. As a Social Work Professional\, he has experience working with youth and adults on issues of financial literacy\, family and individual matters\, homelessness\, addictions\, mental health\, and abuse. He has maintained a strong commitment to leadership\, teaching\, and instilling hope throughout his professional career. Dr. Pearson continues to work hard to identify and address structural and systemic issues impacting vulnerable populations. The legacy he continues to engage works to address the problems of race\, ethnicity\, inequalities and injustices by improving professional practices and through the application of therapeutic interventions in the workplace.

SUMMARY:Financial Planning as Resistance: Strategies Against Systemic Student Debt
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Lyneisha Dukes graduated in December 2024 with a PhD in Social Work from North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University and UNC at Greensboro. She holds an MSW from Fordham University and BSW from Temple University. Dr. Dukes has led macro social work initiatives\, forging partnerships with community organizations\, creating and sustaining mentorship programs to support social networks advancement\, and strengthening an agency-wide internship programs. She enhances social workers’ competencies and promotes social justice through training\, stakeholder engagement and volunteerism. Additionally\, Dr. Dukes teaches macro policy courses at Stony Brook University and Temple University\, and her research examines black families’ financial well-being\, student loan debts and systemic barriers affecting black mothers.
