Dr. Yarneccia D. Dyson, Department Chair of Social Work and Gerontology Program at UNC Greensboro, will be presented the Early Career Faculty Service and Leadership in Social Work Education Award.
The RTI University Scholars Review Committee selected Dr. Carmen Monico as the 2021-2022 RTI University Scholar. The RTI University Scholars Program provides support for distinguished academic researchers at the Associate Professor level or higher to spend scholarly leave time at RTI International, actively partnering with our experts. The goal of the program is to foster collaboration and catalyze opportunities for externally funded joint projects in the future.
Dr. Yarneccia D. Dyson (Chair for Social Work and the Gerontology Program) has been invited to facilitate a webinar in the Doctoral Academy Virtual Winter School in the College of Humanities (CHUM) at University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in South Africa. The topic of the webinar is, “Designing phenomenological research studies.
Terrell Richardson, a JMSW student was accepted to the Council of Social Work Education 2021-2022 Master’s Fellowship Program (MFP). This is a highly recognized and competitive fellowship. The purpose of the program is to reduce health disparities and improve behavioral health-care outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations. The fellowship is designed to increase the number of culturally competent master’s-level behavioral professionals to serve racial/ethnic minority populations.
We are pleased to announce that the Joint Programs in Social Work have received HRSA BHWET funding for the Integrated Behavioral Health and Racial Equity Scholars Program (PDF) in the amount of $1,920,000 to support JMSW and JPhD students 2021-2025.
The Joint Master of Social Work Program inducted nine new members into Phi Alpha National Honor Society for Social Work. These new inductees represent academic excellence and the highest level of achievement in social work education.
Dr. Michelle Vance has been appointed to the Mental Health Research and Practice Division with the Urban Education Collaborative at UNC-Charlotte.
Dr. Sharon Parker will be speaking on a national panel entitled, “PrEP Awareness and Uptake Among African American Women” sponsored by HHS (PACE) and HRSA. The discussion will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm est.
Dr. Yarneccia Dyson is an invited speaker for The Inaugural Institute for Restorative Justice and Practices Virtual Conference hosted by Bowie State University.
